Barbados is an island nation in the Caribbean known for its stunning beaches, historic towns, and rich culture. The Barbadian economy traditionally relies heavily on sugar cane production and tourism. Tourism now accounts for over 40% of GDP. The capital of Barbados is Bridgetown, a lively city with a rich history and many attractions. Popular attractions in Bridgetown include the Barbados Wildlife Reserve, Harrison´s Cave, and the historic Garrison Savannah.
Politically, Barbados is one of the most stable democracies in the Caribbean. It is a parliamentary democracy in the Commonwealth of Nations and was long ruled by the Democratic Labour Party. Since 2022, the Barbados Labour Party has been in government.
Barbados is also known for its musical tradition, especially for Calypso and Soca. These musical styles are closely associated with the island´s culture and are often performed at festivals and events.
