Euer Nordpazifik-Törn (insbes. Japan, Aleuten, Alaska) |

Sylvia und Org Gulf Harbour Marina | Liebe Gabi, lieber Lutz, wir haben Euch bei Eurer/ unserer ersten Pazifiküberquerung 2011 kennengelernt (Samoa, Tonga). Danach trennten sich unsere Wege: Ihr habt, meinen wir zu erinnern, eine Auszeit von der Auszeit genommen; wir sind weiter nach Australien, SO-Asien, Südafrika, Südamerika/ Patagonien, Osterinsel, Gambier etc. Jetzt liegen wir beide offenbar wieder in NZ- Ihr in Whangerei, wir in Gulf Harbour/Hauraki-Golf. Wir haben im letzten Jahr unsere Auszeit vom Segeln genommen: Refit des Schiffes in NZ und unseres Hauses in Essen; mal wieder etwas mehr "Flagge zeigen" bei Familie und Freunden. Am 31.03. geht's dann aber endlich zurück zum Schiff. Damit komme ich zu unserem Anliegen: Wir planen, über Fiji in Richtung Nordpazifik (Mikronesien, Japan, amerikanische Westküste) zu segeln, d.h. ziemlich genau der Route zu folgen, die Ihr 2014-16 gesegelt seid. Mit Respekt und großem Interesse haben wir Euren tollen Bericht bei TransOcean gelesen. Wir sind sicher, dass Ihr noch viele Informationen habt, die für uns sehr wichtig sein könnten. Dürften wir Euch in der ersten Aprilhälfte in Whangerei (oder an einem anderen Platz, der Euch genehm ist) zu einem Gedankenaustausch treffen? Wir würden uns sehr über ein Wiedersehen freuen. Gisela Anamur/Türkei | Ihr Lieben! Es tut mir sehr leid, dass bei Euch eingebrochen wurde! Uns ist im letzten Frühjahr dasselbe in Griechenland passiert und auch bei uns fehlte "nur" der Laptop. Die Einbrecher kamen auch zu einem Parkplatz und brachen gleich in mehrere Fahrzeuge ein. Allerdings nicht in der Stadt, sondern bei der Sehenswürdigkeit Navarino castle. Michael and JoAnne Gray Guemes Island Washington | Lutz and Gabi sent us a text message via HF radio advising us that they have lost connectivity to their WEB site. They are doing fine and did not want their friends to worry, but there will likely not be any updates soon. They advised us that they have about 380 more miles to go and expect to arrive in Whangarei latest on Wednesday, October 24. Also, there is a big high pressure system over the north of NZ, which they were about to enter. Meaning the wind of average 20 knots will soon disappear and Yanmar San (Diesel) will need to help. We have had incredible weather here with yesterday breaking the record high temperature set back in the 1990's. It reached 72 degrees in Seattle, but was a little bit cooler on Guemes. Your trip description is Nuka Alofa to Whangere....are you not planning on checking into Opua first? In our opinion checking in to Opua is likely the better choice for several reasons: There are opportunities to anchor, access to services, and shared rides for provisioning (not as convenient as Whangerei however). Also many of the cruisers stick around for a time to enjoy the camaraderie at the Opua Cruising Club. Take our comments with a "grain of salt" as we are biased for Opua as it is a place where we have many friends and wonderful memories.
