Delane Rivenbark

Okinawa, Japan

Lutz & Gabi, Neil and I really enjoyed our 2 wonderful days at sea aboard SuAn. Thank you for that opportunity and for being such excellent host. We spent the next two days driving (275 km) all over Amami and learned much about the island. We took many photos and will send shortly. I see that you are enjoying Yaku-Shima. Take care! Delane

Schweden

Great Recovery! Happy you are safe

Michael and JoAnne Gray

Paradise Bay Anchorage - Bay of Islands NZ

Dear Lutz and Gabi - we were able to finally catch up on Internet the past two days as we have been out in the sailing in NZ. What a scary experience and so fortunate that it did not happen offshore! We admire your fortitude and resourcefulness in dealing with these obstacles and also the bureaucratic hurdles. Hopefully now you will be able to meet and establish friendships with the Japanese people! Tonight is our last night out this year in the Bay of Islands. We are sailing back to Opua Marina tomorrow to began preparing "Destiny" for our absence the rest of this year. Lots of Love!

Oh shit

Delane

Okinawa

I'm watching you sail by my home as we speak. My home is high up on a hill in Yomitan Village. Viewed through my Telescope I could see one on deck in a red jacket (maybe Lutz) and noticed you looked very balanced with the reef in the main and it might be a bit more sporty once you round the point in about hour. OH shit I think I see that you just lost your forestay. I will come out with a boat now

Grüße nach Japan

Fred & Maren

Schweden

Dear Gabi and Lutz, I am having problems with my entry into your guestbook. I am so excited that you are visiting Japan. How long will you be there? I have enjoyed reading about your travels. I hope you are well and enjoying your experiences as well. Love from Toni and Jaime.

Cookin' !

Michael and JoAnne Gray

C34 Opua Marina

Suan is eating the miles to Japan! 155 per day is really good and it seems your strategy for not sailing rumb line is working well. Loved the "Greed Kills" line :-) How soon will you need to don the warm clothing! Safe sailing and see you in a few months!

Yippee!

Michael and JoAnne Gray

Opua New Zealand

We have been checking twice daily and are so happy you have safely arrived! We are hard at work deep cleaning and putting "Destiny" back into a local/coastal cruising mode. We begin turning the "forward shed" back into its original configuration as a forward head. Michael gets to be the ships plumber for this task :-)

28.12.2014

Happy you are almost there!

Michael and JoAnne Gray

Opua - Bay of Islands New Zealand

We are checking your site daily. What a wonderful job you have done in putting it together. The map feature works and is very nice. Liked your comments about sailing close hauled! We don't like to either, but "Destiny" loves it and because of that we were able to sail from Port Villa to Opua in one tack.... :-) The going was rough the first couple of days, but then the wind lightened for another few days, then we had to motor the final three days. Big Hugs! MnJ

Your Special Gift of Friendship

Michael and JoAnne Gray

Bay of Islands New Zealand

Dear Lutz and Gabi – Of all our many blessings this year, our new friendship with you is one that truly stands out. We are so thankful to have the wonderful cruising lifestyle that provides us with so many gifts in life. One of the most special of these gifts was meeting you during our Vanuatu cruising. As cruisers, we are amongst a small minority of people who reap the pleasure of the close bonding and special friendships that result from the commonality of our cruising lifestyle: Our goals and ambitions, challenges and worries, love of life and sailing, and the enjoyment of meeting new people of different backgrounds and cultures. We are so happy that you sailed into Aneityum, Vanuatu such that our two yachts, “SuAn” and “Destiny” and the people they safeguard, met. What a blessing was this encounter, and the special lifetime friendship that resulted. It was such a sad day when our two boats parted, with “SuAn” heading north and “Destiny” heading south. We are so grateful that our parting was not a “goodbye”, but rather a “farewell” until your voyaging puts the four together again. We look forward to continuing to build upon special memories with you. Our home is your home whenever you are close by. We will cherish our time together cruising in Vanuatu and our friendship for the rest of our lives.
