Japan will be a definite new experience for us with its exotic culture and difficult language. After USA and China it is number three in the world with a very high living standard and efficient economy.
About 127 Mio people live on 380,000 square kilometers of land. Only one quarter of the land area along the coast lines is suitable for living, agriculture and industries.
The main islands are Hokkaido in the North, Honshu, Shikoku and Kyushu in the South. There are another 6.848 smaller islands located in the Seto-Inland Sea and the southern island chain, called Ryukyu Islands. Okinawa, our first port in Japan belongs to the Ryukyu Islands. Japan is located in the pacific fire ring with 40 active volcanoes and daily earth quakes. Also Tsunamis and Typhoons visit the Japanese Islands regularly.
