Before we have left New Zealand we had already send our Small Craft Pre Arrival Report to the Australian Border Force and added our vaccination documents against Covid-19 to their website. We also made reservations in Marlin Marina in Cairns. Because of our stop in New Caledonia we had to adjust some information and send it again together with our ETA.

On VHF we call the marina just before our final arrival and two marina ladies help us to tie SuAn to the dock and explain the process for clearing in. We are not allowed to leave the boat before the officials have come and cleared us in.

About half an hour after our arrival in the Marlin Marina in Cairns two officers from the Australian Border Force come on board, ask a lot of questions according our pre arrival report and we get a temporary import permit for our boat and fill out the passenger arrival cards. The visa for Australia we got in advance online. Than we have to leave SuAn and a sniffer dock is coming on board to search for drugs, money and fire arms.
First step done, but we have to wait for health inspection. The officer from the ministry of agriculture is also coming on Sunday and has to ask all his questions from the dock. Now we are free to leave the boat, but are not allowed to take anything off the boat. The quarantine check is not finished yet.
On Monday than the final Bio-security check is performed by another officer. He asks a lot of questions about SuAn´s visited countries during the last years. Than he checks our food stuff, looking in every storage area. Fresh fruits, vegetable and meet products are taken away. That is not a big deal, since we finished most of it anyway. And finally he does a timber assessment, looking for termites and possible other insects where-ever wood is built into the boat.

Now we have really arrived in Australia.
