We leave Victoria Harbor around 10 am. In light winds we are sailing in the Strait Juan de Fuca eastward. Soon we reach the area of the San Juan Islands. There we take down the Canadian courtesy flag and raise the flag of the USA over a yellow customs flag. Later we sail through the San Juan Channel and arrive in Friday Harbor, a port of entry just before 5 pm.

The very friendly officer from Custom and Border Protection has his office right on the customs dock. Within 10 minutes we are checked in to the USA.

It is interesting to know, that we do not get new stamps in our passports since the stamps we got in Anchorage on arrival from Germany are still valid. This means we do not get any extension of the time we are permitted to stay in the USA and the time we spend in Canada is not deducted. It is as if we never left the United States.
