SuAn’s tall, centrally positioned mast and twin keels also require careful preparation. Every centimetre counts. The mast stays and running aft make clearance at the top of the crane particularly tight. She is lowered onto a specially adapted cradle, which allows her to be transported safely on a trailer, first to the wash-down area and then to her winter storage.
A tractor slowly pulls SuAn across the yard towards her winter berth. Tucked away behind a building, she will be sheltered from the worst of the winter weather on land.
A few busy days of preparation are behind us. There is still some work to do on shore before things quieten down. In spring, SuAn will return to the water and set sail for a new cruising adventure.
