Thankful for Your Safety - Waiting Out the Storm

Michal and JoAnne

Guemes Island WA USA

Hi Lutz and Gabi - we are so very thankful that you have found refuge in time and are safely anchored in Bazaruto Island anchorage! We say "safely" lightly as we know you will be on anchor watch constantly with the 30+ knots blowing into your protected anchorage. What a challenge for you getting into the anchorage with Gabi up the mast and you steering by her radio directions. You are BOTH so amazing sailors. Please stay safe! Lots of Love.

A beating heart!

Heather & Egbert - Roundabout II

Belitung, Indonesia

Lutz and Gabi, Congratulations on the successful heart transplant for Yanmar San! That was a major operation under challenging circumstances and proof of your resilience as seasoned sailors. Well done! Will this impact your future sailing plans? Is there a season for rounding the Cape and can you still make it this year? Best wishes for a less eventful forward journey. Heather and Egbert

CONGRATULATIONS!!

JoAnne and Michael

On Idaho Road Trip

Congratulations Lutz and Gabi for making it around the Cape and your landfall in Africa! You’ve had a very interesting passage, from your extraordinarily large tuna catch which fed you for many , many days, to dealing with large waves and ship traffic, and then the build up to, and final achievement of, rounding the Cape. We are thankful that you had your weather advisor Des to help guide you, but that does not make the challenge of enduring the confusing seas with large waves and high winds any easier. Thought of you today as we served banana bread with brother Steve and nephew Max and happy you had some bananas on board to enjoy some “banana bread/birthday cake” along the way. We look forward to speaking with you when you get settled in. Congratulations and sending our love.

Fishing advice

Heather Jager

Indonesia

Hi Gabi and Lutz, Congratulations on the BIG tuna! That is a dream catch. Since you invited questions, would you be willing to share the secretst to your fishing success? What kind of lure were you using, how deep in the water was it, etc? I hope the wind and seas remain in your favour. Looks like you are having great passage so far. Your friends on Roundabout II, Heather and Egbert

Tuna

Knut & Britta Boettcher

Germany

Hi Lutz abd Gabi, good to hear/see that you are selfsupporting with tuna - for others it is a luxury and you need to find a way how to handle such big portion. Interesting the preserving ways - we continiously learning from you. What are your meal recommendations for tuna - suppose it will not all day sashimi. With love from Germany K&B PS: we are looking forward to more exciting stories from you
