Neiafu seems to be divided in two parts, the commercial part along the shore to the east and the village part west of it. There are many cafes and restaurants, 3 banks, some shops and churches, the wharf and container terminal an old German cemetery, at least two schools, dive shops and souvenir shops. Not only fresh fruits and vegetable are available on Utukalongalu Market, they sell also local handicraft, such as Tapas, jewelry from whale bones, shells and pearls and wood carvings.
We climb up the highest mountain of the island group, Mt. Talau with only 131 m of height. Unfortunately it is a rainy day with dark clouds overcrowding the beautiful scenery.
