It is May 1st, time to continue our trip.

On Friday we have already checked out, as we were assuming, that Labor Day is a public holiday in the Dominican Republic as well. We have to pay another 30 $US for harbor and garbage fee and the military takes further 20 $ US. This was about the rest we had in Dominican Peso, which we wanted to spend for a nice last dinner. Anyway, the tanks are full and we are preparing to leave.

In the afternoon we prepare our deck washing system, as we think, the anchor chain might be very dirty from the mud in the lagoon. But when we start to get the anchor in, even lots of barnacles are grown on the anchor chain, which cannot just be washed or scrapped off. Only a wire brush helps to get the little hard shells off the chain, but the green color for marking the 100 ft. length as well. It takes us more then half an hour to have the anchor in and cleaned.

Approximately 135 nautical miles or 24 hours of sailing are ahead of us to the Turks and Caicos Islands.
