Before noon we reach the first fjord, Preservation Inlet. We are happy to have that rough nasty and slow passage behind us.

As soon as we have entered the long narrow water arm, the waves stay outside and the wind diminishes to just a nice breeze. Sunshine and knowing that there is a trail from shore to the lighthouse, we drop anchor and take the dinghy to land.
It is time to move our tired bodies and do this hike.

It is a nice beautiful 4 km walk through forest and along the cliffs to the lighthouse at Puysegur Point. It was originally built in 1878 and rebuilt in 1942 after it was burnt down by a prospector from Coal Island who was (living alone for six months and suffering from persecution complex) disturbed by its flashing light every 10 seconds.

Three hours later we are back on board and have to look for a well protected anchorage in the far inland stretching fjord.
