Our first stop in Tonga is the island Niuatopotapu located in the Northern island Group Niuas. There are about 8 sailing yachts anchoring in the northern lagoon in front of the village Falehao.

Shortly after our anchor has dropped, we call Sia via VHF 16. She organizes the officials to come to the port for clearing in. The lady from customs and immigration and the officer from agriculture visit us on board and bring the forms to fill. Later we have to change some money at the only bank on Niuatopotapu and pay our fees. We also have to go to the health center where we are asked, if we are healthy and get our health certificate for 100 Pangai, which is around 75 US$.

The people here are very friendly and offer great hospitality to us foreigners, mainly consisting of sailors. The about 18 square km big island is populated by about 1300 people, living in 3 villages. The island has a little airport and a supply vessel is coming every 3 month to the little wharf.
